Griffith Cannon Patent Drawings

Below are several drawings used on the patent application of the second Charles Griffith designed cannon. The drawings for this cannon only show the barrel which, except its break-away breech, is very similar to the Winchester. Griffith describes this design as: "an improvement in breech-loading cannon and other breech-loading firing pieces, the object being to produce a simple, compact, durable, convenient, and effective piece constructed with particular reference to improving the construction and operation of the locking-block...I have shown my invention applied to a cannon it is also applicable to other breech-loading pieces, such as rifles, shotguns, pistols, etc...". We haven't found any evidence this cannon was ever produced by Winchester.
